Jefferson Middle School 8th Grade Dance | DJ Jazzy Josh Event Recap

There’s something special about an 8th grade dance—it’s one of those moments that marks the end of a chapter and the start of something new. I had the opportunity to DJ the Jefferson Middle School 8th grade dance, and it was a great night all around.

From the start, the goal was simple: keep things fun, age-appropriate, and engaging for everyone in the room. The students showed up ready to be part of it—whether that meant being out on the dance floor, jumping into group dances, or just enjoying time with their friends.

The music mix leaned into what this age group actually enjoys right now, with a balance of current hits, clean hip hop, and recognizable throwbacks. That mix helped keep the floor active without forcing anything—just letting the night build naturally.

Events like this are always a team effort. The staff at Jefferson Middle School did a great job organizing the event and creating a space where students could celebrate safely and comfortably. That makes a big difference in how the night comes together.

It’s always rewarding to be part of these milestone events. For the 8th graders, this was one of their last big moments before heading into high school, and it’s clear they made the most of it.

If you’re planning a school dance, fundraiser, or student event in Columbia, Jefferson City, or anywhere in Mid-Missouri, I’d love to help create a night that fits your crowd and your goals.
