There’s just something about a pool party in the summer that hits different—and this Tween Night in Columbia, Missouri was one of those nights where everything just clicked.
From the first track, the energy was there. Kids were in the water, on the deck, dancing, splashing, and fully bought in. That’s always my goal when I DJ events like this—not just play music, but create a vibe where everyone feels part of it.
I kept the music clean, current, and fun—mixing in trending songs, throwbacks, and a few unexpected hits to keep things moving. But what really made the night was the interaction. We had crowd battles between the shallow end and deep end, quick dance-offs, call-and-response hype moments, and yes… plenty of cringey dad jokes (they rolled their eyes, but I know they loved it).
One of my favorite parts of events like this is seeing kids who start off a little shy slowly jump in—literally and figuratively—and end up dancing with their friends by the end of the night. That’s when you know it’s working.
